Welcome to DYCE Feature Suite for Subscription Billing

As the name suggests, this is an app that includes features that extend the functionality of Microsoft Subscription Billing.

Tier prices

Tiered pricing is a pricing model in which the price per unit varies depending on the quantity purchased or consumption. The aim is to motivate customers to purchase larger quantities or use more intensively by offering volume discounts or graduated tariffs. This model is often used in retail, services and subscription business models. The basic principle is that the price per unit decreases as the quantity increases. The price tiers are set in defined quantity ranges, for example 1-49 units, 50-99 units and over 100 units. In retail terms, this means volume discounts for products.

There are two common methods for calculating tiered pricing, both of which are supported with DYCE Feature Suite for Subscription Billing:

  • Flat-Tier Pricing
All units are charged at the price of the applicable quantity level.
  • True-Tier Pricing
Each quantity level is taken into account separately and calculated in total.

Tier prices are maintained via the Sales Prices in Business Central standard.

Considering existing subscriptions in tier pricing

When a customer purchases additional licenses, an existing subscription can be selected on the sales line so that the existing quantity is factored into tier price determination. This ensures the correct price tier is applied based on the total quantity, and the selected subscription is updated automatically on shipment.

Tier pricing in Usage-Based Billing

Tier pricing is also taken into account during usage data processing. When Usage Based Pricing is set to Usage Quantity on a subscription line, the applicable tier is determined by the imported quantity and used as the billing base — following the same Flat-Tier or True-Tier logic as for subscription lines. See tier pricing for details.

Preassigning of contracts in sales

To simplify the process for billing subscriptions, the customer subscription contract via which the subsequent billing is to take place can already be selected during the sales process, i.e. already in the sales line. In addition to the creation of the subscription, the related subscription lines are retrieved in the specified customer subscription contract.

Comment lines on contract invoices

Comment lines in customer subscription contracts can be attached to a specific line using the Attached to Line No. field. When an invoice is created, attached comment lines are transferred to the invoice alongside the contract line they belong to.
