Surcharges
The basis for surcharges is the surcharge model, which is stored in the master data. Here, different surcharge rates can be defined for various times of day and days of the week.
Surcharge models can be found via Alt+Q in the search bar. A new model can be created by clicking New.
-
Code: Specifies the unique code of the surcharge model.
-
Description: Provides a short description of the surcharge model.
-
Base Calendar Source: Determines which Base Calendar Code is used to classify holidays for surcharge calculation (see Base Calendar Source below).
The surcharges are defined in the surcharge model lines.
-
Type of Day: There are 4 different types of days to choose from (Working Day, Saturday, Sunday, Holiday). Monday to Friday are generally considered working days. Holidays are determined from the calendar selected via Base Calendar Source. The service date in the time recording is used to determine the type of day. This allows the relevant surcharge model lines to be found. The type of day is used to calculate surcharges for the time recording.
-
Start Time: Specifies the time from which the surcharge can be applied. 00:00:00 is interpreted as midnight (start of the day).
-
End Time: Specifies the time from which a surcharge can no longer be applied. 00:00:00 is interpreted as 24:00 (end of the day). If the Start and End fields are empty, the surcharge model line applies for the entire type of day (0 to 24h).
-
Surcharge %: Specifies the surcharge to be applied in percent. Surcharge model lines with 0% are ignored when calculating surcharges.
Surcharge model lines must not overlap. If the Start and End fields are empty in a line, it applies to the entire type of day. Another model line with the same type of day would be an overlap.
Base Calendar Source
For each time recording, only one calendar is evaluated to classify a day as a holiday for surcharge calculation — which one depends on the Base Calendar Source field on the Surcharge Model:
- From Project: The Base Calendar Code stored on the Project of the time recording is used. The resource's Base Calendar Code is ignored.
- From Resource: The Base Calendar Code stored in the Resource Person Defaults of the time recording's resource is used. The project's Base Calendar Code is ignored.
If the selected calendar is empty, holidays cannot be determined and the type of day falls back to the day of week only (working day, Saturday, or Sunday).
New Surcharge Models default the field Base Calendar Source to From Project. Surcharge Models existing before this setting was introduced default to From Resource. On upgrade to a version that introduces the Base Calendar Code field, existing projects are backfilled with the base calendar from Company Information.
