Time recordings in Jira Service Management and Jira Software

The creation of time recordings in Jira is basically the same as in the WebApp. Time recordings can be created in the tickets in Jira Service Management and the issues in Jira Software via the DYCE Fast Tracking add-in. This is also possible via the Work log tab in the Activity area. Existing time recordings can also be completed and checked here.
The functionality of fast entry via stopwatch and templates are not available in Jira. Instead of Fast Tracking by stopwatch, time recordings can be created with default values for Customer, Project, Project Task, Activity and Description in DYCE Fast Tracking.

DYCE Fast Tracking

DYCE Fast Tracking (in the right sidebar) is the fastest way to create a time recordings. It can be used in any ticket or issue. Alternatively, a new time recordings can be created via the Work log tab in the Activity section using the Create button.
The Description is automatically generated and predefined from the type of activity, number and title. It is used for simplification and can be changed by the user. The pre-assignment to Customer, Project, Project Task and Activity is made using a mapping or assignment, if this has been done. If this is not the case, the assignment can be created using the button of the same name. As this is an override in the user context, the selection per user and ticket/issue is saved in the background and reused the next time.
If the Original estimate is filled in an issue, Time remaining and Total are automatically updated. Total is displayed in green until 80 percent of Original estimate is reached. The display then turns yellow. If Original estimate is exceeded, Total is displayed in red.

Note

The Activity can only be edited if a Project Task incl. Project Planning Lines is predefined.
If the last change has not been saved, changing the Activity and creating time recordings is prevented in order to prevent incorrect or missing mapping. The automatic calculation of Original estimate and Time remaining is only carried out in the Chrome browser when the page is reloaded.

DYCE Time Tracking in Service Management and Software

The Work log tab is displayed in every process. New time recordings can be created here via Create. The Description is automatically generated and predefined from the type of process, number and title. It is used for simplification and can be changed by the user. The assignment to Customer, Project, Project Task and Activity is determined on the basis of a mapping or assignment, if this has been made. If this is not the case, the assignment can be created using the button of the same name. As this is an override in the user context, the selection per user and ticket/issue is saved in the background and reused the next time (see above).
If the Original estimate is filled in an issue, Time remaining and Total are updated automatically.

All time recordings for the respective issue are displayed in the Work log tab. The time recordings are grouped by user (employee) and totaled. The total shows at a glance how long the process was worked on in total.
Incomplete time recordings are marked with a red exclamation mark. These are time recordings in which important information is missing.

Pre-assignment using the mapping

The Customer, Project, Project Task and Activity fields can be predefined using a mapping. Every user can create his own, user specific pre-assignment per ticket/ issue. If the user has create a user specific pre-assignment, it will be used on creating time recordings. Otherwise the general pre-assignments will be used.

Use of the mapping

Related to an activity to a project or to a customer, time recordings can be predefined (see above). When an activity is created, the preallocation is automatically adopted if it exists. If the mapping is not complete, the assignment can be created using the button of the same name.
The preallocation is also applied when creating a time recordings via the Work log tab.

tip

With well-maintained mapping, users can do their time recordings without having to search for the right Project Tasks.
